Adaptations for Therapeutic Needs
Body Smart Sequencing is an intuitive, progressive process of linking postures that build off each other to achieve a desired objective. It’s a combination of mini-sequences, progressively combined, to prepare the necessary muscles and joints for one or more peak postures or to target areas of the body where common injuries occur. Incorporating free-flowing, repetitive movements with breath increases range of motion and circulation, targeting specific muscles to create lasting changes and form new, healthier movement patterns

Body Smart Sequencing can be used therapeutically by identifying an individual’s movement patterns, assessing weaknesses, and determining what needs strengthening or where range of motion is limited. The body is like a map, and movement patterns are the roads. Physical pain or injury is often linked to poor movement patterns. Body Smart Sequencing re-educates muscles and movement to create greater integration, addressing the root cause of stress and injury.
In this training, you’ll learn:
- How adaptations in sequencing create different objectives and results
- The art of adapting for therapeutic needs, including energy lines and pressure point therapy through yoga
- Working one-on-one to address individual physical, mental, and emotional needs
- Composing short practices or sequences for maximum recovery
- Yoga as a preventive method, beyond fitness
- Deepening the effect of poses with hands-on assists and therapeutic props
- How to use chairs, blocks, straps, and other props for various adaptive purposes
- The art of hands-on assisting for greater impact
Specific therapeutic sequences will target:
- Neck and shoulders
- Upper thoracic
- Lower back and digestion
- Knees and hips issues
Additionally, you’ll explore how to apply Body Smart Sequencing to advanced vinyasa flow classes, adapting postures for different therapeutic needs and addressing common injury areas with precision.
